Also, I will leave with fond memories of the Duke of Devonshire for their wacky Monday night pub quiz and the Avalon with its fabulous decor and beautiful people. It consists of Oreo cookies, vanilla ice cream, Baileys and Creme d'Menthe. I love for their Irish Disco Biscuit cocktail which is basically a dessert in a glass. However, I will probably miss some of the pubs and bars. I won't miss the garbage on the ground (mainly discarded chicken bones, McDonald's wrappers or other fast food refuse) or the pigeons that crazy old ladies feed with moldy bread. As London streets go it isn't bad.but it sure isn't pretty. ![]() It always seems to be filled with people that don't work (ie.collecting benefits or welfare as us North Americans call it) or students grabbing some fast-food for lunch. I walk the 15 min journey most days from my house to the gym down this bustling British high street. Balham High Road is generally a really busy place full of people during the day however this photo doesn't really reflect that. This will not be missed when I return home to Vancouver. ![]()
